Detailed Biography of Jack DeVaney
President, DeVaney Consulting Group
Over the course of his career, Jack DeVaney has negotiated
more than 300 clinical outsourcing contracts with hospitals
ranging in size from large teaching institutions to rural
healthcare providers. He founded DeVaney Consulting Group
in 2001 to help hospital executives reduce costs by identifying
and resolving issues related to outsourcing clinical services
to third party organizations.
From 1998 to 2001 he served as president of Edward Lifesciences
Cardiovascular Resources, a subsidiary company of Edwards
Lifesciences (EW-NYSE). Cardiovascular Resources was a clinical
outsourcing company that contracted with more than 500 hospitals
throughout the United States.
Prior to that DeVaney was with the publicly traded Horizon
Health Corporation (HORC-NASDAQ) from 1985 to 1998. Horizon
provides clinical management services to hospitals throughout
the United States.
From 1997 to 1998 he was the president of Horizons
Specialty Rehab Management, Inc., a national healthcare service
company in Lewisville, Texas that contracted with hospitals
to provide clinical and managerial services.
He was with Horizon Mental Health Management from 1988 to
1997, serving as the executive vice president of operations
from 1996 to 1997. His career began as a hospital program
director for Horizon in Michigan in 1985.
DeVaney is a frequent presenter at seminars on customer service
and customer retention. He enjoys a national reputation as
an authority on clinical outsourcing. He earned a masters
of public administration degree from Western Michigan University
in 1984, a masters of social work degree from Marywood
University in Pennsylvania in 1980 and a bachelor of science
from Bryant College in Rhode Island in 1974. He served honorably
in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978.
DeVaney was born on May 24, 1952 in Ticonderoga, New York.
He has been married since 1982 and lives with his wife, Brenda,
and their two children in Poway, California, a suburb of San
Diego.
